How Do We Live Out Our Faith?
Our Mission
Our mission was given by Jesus: we are to make more and better disciples for Jesus.
Our Vision Statement
We are a community of friends witnessing for Christ through worship, invitation, growth and service!
Our Core Values
Our core values are those non-negotiable things that we believe should be the basis of our church’s mission and vision:
We are to be grounded in the Bible, the inspired word of God.
“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” - 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NLT)
The Bible inspires us to be Christ-like, to follow Jesus, and to love God and others. Given by God, it sets forth directives for developing a relationship with God and a foundation for moral living. It encourages us to be bold in spiritual growth. Our goal is to learn what it says and to help others see God in Scripture. The Bible is our primary source for our core beliefs.
We must focus on becoming disciples who make disciples for Jesus.
“Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:18-20(NLT)
Since Jesus told us to make disciples, not just members, we will challenge one another to deeper commitments to our faith and our following of Jesus. We will expect leaders to be growing in faith. We cannot make disciples for Jesus if we are not growing in our faith and discipleship.
We desire to be a church that glorifies God through culturally relevant worship. The Sacraments of Holy Communion and Baptism are a vital part of our worship.
“Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship, for they will walk in the light of your presence, LORD” - Psalm 89:15 NLT
We recognize that the Scriptures do not prescribe a particular style of worship. We believe that scripture, prayer, song, and sacraments are essential. We accept the freedom that God gives us to develop worship services that properly exalt Him and reach new people for Him.
We believe that all that we do should be undergirded by prayer.
“Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”
- 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NLT)
Prayer is one of the most direct methods of interacting with God. Scripture calls God’s people to pray at all times and in all situations. We believe that prayer should be the first thing we should do in our decision-making processes, as well as the last.
Jesus has a special place in His heart for children. We must, too.
“But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” 15 And he placed his hands on their heads and blessed them before he left.” - Matthew 19:14-15 (NLT)
Jesus had a special place in his heart for children. We will strive to develop ministries of care for and education of children to help them come to know and follow Jesus.
We celebrate the gifts that older adults bring to us.
“Stand up in the presence of the elderly, and show respect for the aged. Fear your God. I am the Lord.” - Leviticus 19:32
There are many seniors who are a part of the heritage of this church. We honor that heritage, and we honor the biblical wisdom senior saints bring to us. We honor the talents and gifts they bring to us. So, we will continue to provide ministries of worship, care and fellowship for them.
